Chassis and Suspension Overview

There are many chassis builders throughout the country and all have a different way of looking at suspension and chassis design. This leads to a variety of opinions on all issues concerning on track handling of a car. RMB Racing is home to Custom Chassis, and we take that name very literally. A custom car is one that is made and tailored to the person or team it is built for and this extends into the design and the suspension. Though most of this is geared toward the circle track it can be applied to all types of racing. RMB Racing uses a 3-D suspension analysis and CAD style programs so that you receive the “custom” car you want.

Every car built has certain geometric features designed into it. An example of this is center of gravity. At RMB Racing we are able to, in most cases, adjust these however we can design them in the car if needed. The use of fully adjustable control arms on the front is one design we use to accomplish this fully adjustable suspension.

As most know, one thing that can change the way a car handles the most is how stiff or flexible the chassis is. The most versatile car is a flexible car but it is not the fastest. When a stiff chassis is correctly tuned and adjusted it will handle and be more consistent than the flexible car. The down side of this is when the stiff car is off it is off. We are able to use our CAD designs to change our chassis to be as stiff or as soft as a customer likes. We are also able to build this into the car so that it can be made adjustable. For those just getting started we can help you choose the chassis for you, but for the veterans that prefer certain stiffness we can accommodate that.

In the end, all of this means that at RMB Racing we are able to provide a customer with a design racing package that will perform optimally for them. Starting with the Chassis, if you are familiar with a Rocket Chassis, GRT, GRS, Masterbuilt, Rayburn, or another company we can take the characteristics you like and add them to some new secrets to make the ultimate car of your choice. We are then able to use the 3D suspension analysis and adjust it to a certain feel or to react a certain way.
